After looking around, I learned — They help you get filled up on mostly liquid. If you do green smoothies with greens like parsley and pineapple juice then you get lots of trace minerals. Fruit smoothies taste good and have a lot of fiber and nutrients. The fiber helps to carry out the fat. Vegetable smoothies will give you minerals and protein and lots of vitamins.     quick and easy and nutritional.
    be easy to calculate calorie intake because you measure what you use.
    i'm thinking of home made smoothies which I would make with whey protein,yogurt,juice and fruit(which would provide fiber too)
    in fact, that's an excellent idea which I might try for a week to see how successfully it works.
    it works because of calorie restriction. that's the essential factor in all diets.
