Please don't be like me!

Several years ago I was warned to stay away from behind-the-neck exercises and movements, and do you think I listened? Of course not.

And as a result, I acquired a rotator cuff injury that slowly gets worse and worse over time.

It is often said that it is much smarter to learn from the mistakes of others than to have to suffer the consequences yourself. I'd say that I agree with that.

Just in case you are not quite sure what a "rotator cuff" is, its a handy little muscle on the back of your shoulder that literally helps your arm to "rotate" around the shoulder socket.

For most people, this muscle is not supposed to rotate far enough to take the arms too far behind the head.

Behind the neck exercises not only pull this muscle to the edge of its natural range, but often have additional weight resistance involved that cause even more stress to the area.

If this is done repetitively over time, the muscle will often get injured. Another thing that may happen is that it will become inflammed and swell to the point where the bone around it pinches the muscle. Both conditions are chronic, painful, and should be avoided at all costs.

So, if there are any behind-the-neck movements in your current workout, you will want to find more shoulder-friendly alternatives. And if such an exercise is ever recommended to you by a friend or exercise program, ask or look for a better alternative immediately.

Slim Fast Diet Plan

I've quite a bit of weight to lose, but I'd like a little something to help me supplement it. I'm on the Slim Fast website right now. . And it says to drink two shakes a day, and have some snacks. . . Has anyone tried to do anything with a Slim Fast plan, did it work? And was it too costly? I'm currently trying LA Weight Loss and it is sucking every penny out of my wallet. . I've to give it up. Thanks so much. Another question. . Did anyone keep the weight off? Just wondering. Like. . Do you have to keep drinking those stupid shakes for life? Lol. Essentially — I've been on the Slim Fast diet plan and it did work and I've kept the weight off. I guess it taught me to eat better and what kinds of foods fill me up. For breakfast, I had a shake and some yogurt. Then, a couple hours later, an apple or some kind of fruit. For lunch, a shake with a salad. For pm snack, a slim fast snack bar (they are WAY good). Normal dinner and a slim fast snack bar for snack before bed. I never felt like I was going hungry and it isn't that expensive. A lot of stores sell the generic brand that is much cheaper and works and tastes just as well. Make sure you drink the shakes ice cold or else they taste like crap.

Umm, yes you really shouldn't use weight loss aids until your about18. Your body is still growing, and you should just work harder on your diet and exercise. I know it's hard but when you start getting your results you'll see that you don't need a weight loss aid to keep you healthy and in shape. Also if you start using the patch, and then stop, you'll just gain the weight back so your better off doing it yourself. Good Luck.
